The Android ViewBook tablet from ViewSonic can make for a decent buy.
The ViewBook runs Android 2.2 Froyo and has a 1 GHz Cortex-A8 processor at its core. It also comes pre-loaded with stuff like the Amazon Kindle or the Amazon Mp3. The tablet also includes the Amazon app store app while connectivity options with the ViewBook includes 802.11b/g networking and Bluetooth.
Besides this, the ViewBook comes with the usual tablet features such a built-in G-sensor and an accelerometer, along with a camera integrated at the front. As an Android Froyo device it is compatible with Flash 10.1. The 8 GB of on-board storage are decent. The memory can be further expanded by 32 GB via a micro SD card slot. With its weight of just 0.95 lbs. and an overall thickness of only 0.55 inches the device is quite handy.
The only ads that show up are on the ’screensavers’ when you’re not reading and one line on the bottom of the home screen.

There is no $25 lower price for the Kindle 3G model, that still costs $189. The use of the 3G wireless for updating the screensavers and the ads may be just to expensive. That way the difference between the lowest-priced Kindle and the 3G model will be $75 now rather than $50.
For $13.69 – instead of originally $39.99 – you get the CrazyOnDigital Black Leather Case for Apple iPad, which is getting 4 out of 5 stars from 86 customers so far. priced retail at $39.99.

So it comes as usual with free global 3G. Until last week it was the newest Kindle DX and was selling for $489!
Well that is still a lot of money, but here it comes, if you don’t mind to take a refurbished model of the same Kindle DX – they are usually as good as any brand new one – the price now goes down to $299 ! These Kindles are factory refurbished and sealed. The only difference to a brand new one is that it does not ship with the AC adaptor plug. This accessory must be purchased separately. But in 99% you will charge it via USB anyway.
All purchases eligible for Amazon customer service and 30 day return policy.
Only one day after a price drop for the Barnes & Noble nook, Amazon reduced the price for the Kindle 2.
The nook fell from $259 to $199, a new WiFi only nook costs merely $149. In response, Amazon has cut the price of the popular Kindle from $259 to $189. In contrast to the nook the Kindle is a 3G only device but with global wireless connection for free!
Since even a bare bone device like the new Kobo reader costs about $149 it seems that the price war is just about to begin and we will see some major price drops within the next few weeks.
My guess is, that low end devices like the Kobo will cost no more then $49 by the end of the year.
